During filming we use varied shot types: Close Ups, Mid Shots, Long Shots, a two shot and Over The Shoulder shots for our Shot Reverse Shot sequence.
Our Establishing Shot is of a music studio door with a sign saying 'LEAD SINGER WANTED' in capitals. We used this to show the audience where the interview will take place, and establish the basic concept of what the interview will entail. Also, this shot helps the audience to understand where the Interviewee is in the next scene, as she is getting ready to go into the room. This gives the audience the idea that the girl is a singer, that connotes she is music and talented, which she is.

The Match On Action shot is one of the 3 main continuity editing examples which we had to use in this piece. In our piece it was as the interviewee enters the interview room. Its a tricky shot to edit but ours worked significantly well. It's the basic foundations for the 180 Degree Rule (as seen in the Shot Reverse Shot below), as everything stays in the same position throughout the shot, and the actors do not change sides. The match on action shot was used to show the interviewee coming through the door and sitting down so scene flows, and it portrays a continuous sense of the same action (walking through the door) rather than two separate thing e.g. the interviewee outside the door *cut* the interviewee through the door *cut* the interviewee sitting on the chair. It is a continuous movement which looks good.
The Shot Reverse Shot technique is good for an interview like in our piece because you get to see the reaction of the Interviewer/Interviewee when the other person is talking. It is also crucial to not break the 180 Degree Rule, which we didn't, so the scenes all flow and there is no confusion for the audience. Also in a Shot Reverse Shot, the Over the Shoulder shots that we used creates a sense of juxtaposition between the characters and can help the audience establish character relationships, even though they've just met. It's a great way to show facial expressions and body language between the two characters as they engage in conversation.
